Therapist in New York, NY & Englewood, NJ

I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail.
― Abraham Maslow, Ph.D.

As an advocate and practitioner of psychotherapy integration, I tailor the use of different methods, alone and in combination, over the course of each individual treatment. These methods include a psychodynamically-oriented baseline approach that explores how your past might be affecting your present and addresses hidden self-defeating negative patterns. To supplement and strengthen the approach, I bring in several methods to heighten emotional experiences that neuroscience has shown promote lasting change.

I work with individuals from many backgrounds, including business executives, academicians, and professionals.

Drawing on my knowledge and experience with many psychotherapeutic methods, I treat adult and adolescent patients with a wide variety of conditions.  These include:

  • Anxiety Disorders, including Phobias and Panic Disorder
  • Mood Disorders, including Depression and Bipolar Disorder
  • Relationship Problems
  • Psychosomatic Issues (Heart Disease, Body Image, Shy Bladder, others.)
  • Compulsions, OCD, unwanted thoughts
  • Motivational issues (Underperformance)
  • Behavioral problems (Anger Management and other maladaptive coping/social skills)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

For those in crisis, I apply short-term therapy, remaining on call to them if needed after the crisis remits. I practice longer-term therapy with people who have more complex needs or ambitious goals.

An integrative approach sometimes can achieve rapid symptom relief early in treatment, as patients continue work to discover root causes of issues and more comprehensively alleviate their effects.
